Taking the first step is challenging
You may have been wading through endless names of therapists wondering who to pick. Unsure if who you choose will indeed be able to get you. Choosing who to confide in takes courage. I have created this page for you to have a better idea of How I work, My Approach, Experience and Training along with my qualifications that have been gained over twenty years as a counsellor working in Therapeutic Settings.
My Approach with Couples and Individuals
I actively support clients in understanding, accepting, and harnessing their emotions as a powerful tool for healing and growth. By helping them identify the underlying needs connected to their emotions, I guide them in transforming maladaptive emotional patterns. Through a process of awareness, expression, and regulation, clients learn to navigate their emotions effectively—focusing on emotional change as the foundation for personal transformation, rather than solely on thoughts or behaviors.
My Experience
Since 2004, I have dedicated my career to counselling, gaining a wealth of experience across various domains. My journey began as a counsellor specialising in rape and sexual abuse, where I provided crucial support to survivors. I later worked at a counselling centre, assisting families in navigating their challenges, and collaborated with numerous charities, deepening my understanding of diverse human experiences. This rich background paved the way for my transition into private practice, where I continue to work individuals and couples with compassion and expertise.
I have consistently sought to expand my knowledge through workshops and ongoing training, ensuring that I remain well-equipped to address the evolving needs of my clients. I work with individuals facing challenges such as depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma, guiding them in uncovering the roots of their struggles. Together, we develop the skills necessary to lead lives filled with intention and fulfilment. I believe everyone deserves a life that nourishes them and aligns with their dreams.
My passion lies particularly in working with couples. Relationships can be complex, and communication often forms the crux of many challenges. I assist couples in reconnecting, enhancing their communication, and reimagining their shared lives in a way that resonates with both partners. My goal is to help each individual find balance within the relationship, ensuring that their uniqueness is not only preserved but enriched by their partnership.
